Associate Scientist for AAV Gene Therapy Drug Development

Frontera Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated associate scientist to join our dynamic and passionate AAV gene therapy research team. The successful applicants will be contributing to the development of AAV gene therapy drugs. The main focus of this position is to work with experienced scientists to develop vectors, assays, and cell lines to support our early pipeline programs targeting various disorders. The position requires extensive knowledge with hands-on experience working in cell-based assays, assay development, molecular and cellular biology, and gene and protein expression.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vectors, assays, and cell lines to support various pipeline programs targeting a variety of disease areas
  • Conduct molecular cloning, DNA prep, PCR, and sequencing
  • Conduct AAV vector production and transduction
  • Conduct various assays to validate and screen viral vectors
  • Contribute to experimental design, data analysis, report, documentation, and meeting presentation
  • Work effectively within the Research team, with other cross-functional teams, and/or with external CROs to support key research objectives in a fast-paced and interdisciplinary environment
  • Maintain detailed and well-organized documentation with best industry practice
  • Help with lab management

Qualifications & Skills

  • A B.S. or M.S. in molecular biology, cell biology, virology, immunology, or related discipline required
  • Extensive and excellent hands-on skills and experience with molecular biology, cell culture techniques, cell-based assays, and analytical assays
  • Proficient in cell culture, transfection, viral transduction, Western blotting, ELISA, flow, qPCR, and ddPCR techniques
  • Responsible and efficient with the lab assignments
  • Can do attitude and quick and high-quality execution
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to quickly adjust from task to task and willing to learn and master new techniques
  • Ability to be highly productive in a fluid, fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including preparation of laboratory reports and presentations
